To address the dramatic increase in traffic in the last few years, TOCUMEN S.A. conducted an assessment to update the short and long-term planning requirements for the existing airport. The airport planning projections indicated future growth expectations of 12 million passengers per year.
A massive five-year expansion program was developed, encompassing numerous landside and airside developments and improvements to establish Panama as a hub for the Americas. The program includes the design and construction of a new world-class passenger terminal, with an iconic architectural structure and the latest technological, logistical and operational advances to improve efficiency and increase capacity.
The scope of work includes design and construction of a third independent runway, taxiways, and aircraft staging areas and a new control tower to comply with visibility requirements for the airfield.
CSA is part of a consortium that is providing Program Management and program administration assistance to the owner. The consortium also provides technical supervision and inspection services.
