As part of Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department's ongoing infrastructure improvement program, CSA Group was selected to provide the engineering services required for a new 60-inch force main, utilized to carry reject water from a reverse osmosis water treatment plant to an existing 72-inch force main leading to a wastewater treatment plant. The new force main is to be installed within an area that includes heavily traveled streets, near county and government, retail business, private schools, and residential areas. The routes included tunneling crossings of major Florida roadways including US-1 and the Busway and the Florida Turnpike, as well as flood control canals operated and maintained by the South Florida Water Management District.

Services included the preparation of a feasibility study utilized for the systematic evaluation of potential routes on the basis of available construction materials and methods, construction cost and schedule, as well as the coordination with future planned projects, Federal, State and County Regulatory agencies, local governments, property owners and stakeholders having interest or potential interest in the project. The feasibility study with route recommendation and detailed presentation has been completed, and the route has been selected.
