Tocumen S.A. conducted an assessment to update the short and long term planning to develop a massive expansion program. This Airport Expansion Program will add to the numerous ongoing landside and airside developments and improvements in progress over the last five years to address the dramatic increase in traffic during the last few years.

The objectives of the project include:

  • Establishing Panama as hub for the Americas through the design and construction of a new world class passenger terminal providing Panama City with an iconic architectural structure and a new passenger terminal with the latest technological, logistic, organizational and operational advances
  • Providing travelers with comfort, security and faster movement in and out of the airport.
  • Designing and building a new passenger terminal in compliance with the “Type C” service level, based on IATA’s standards;
  • Increasing the capacity to accommodate the projected volume of 12 million passengers per year.
  • Providing the required equipment needed to ensure the efficiency of the new terminal.

Other scope includes design and construction of a third runway, taxiways and the aircraft stands to implement parallel independent and simultaneous operations and a new control tower in compliance with all the applicable visibility requirements for the airfield, including platforms, taxiways and runways.

CSA is part of a five company Consortium known as “CONSORCIO-ADPI-AYESA-CSA-CEMOSA”. We are providing technical management and inspection services and assisting with overall administration of the program and facilities.
