The Port of Miami Tunnel Project consists of three components:
- Tunnel connection between Watson Island and Port of Miami (Dodge Island) will consist of an eastbound and westbound tunnel with two 12 ft traffic lanes, curbs, walkways, ventilation fans and additional safety features beneath Government Cut. The eastbound and westbound tunnels are 4,200 ft in length.
- Construction of the new west bound Port Boulevard Bridge. This bridge will be taking the oversized and hazardous cargo traffic out of the port into Biscayne Boulevard.
- Widening MacArthur Causeway Bridge will be expanded from three to four lanes in each direction. The expanded width will create lanes for vehicles using the tunnel, allowing them to avoid contact with other vehicles as they exit and enter the tunnel portals. Existing lighting will be adapted as necessary.
CSA is part of the Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) Team for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). CSA’s Project Manager is working under the FDOT General Manager to oversee the design and construction process as well as providing support to the FDOT managing the CEI contract.
