NYCT 71/Continental Avenue Station ADA Accessibility Upgrades

Queens, NY

CSA was subcontracted for MEP engineering services to complete vital ADA upgrades to the 71st Street / Continental Avenue Station of the Forest Hills Queens Line. The Forest Hills-71 Ave station is the fifth busiest out of 78 stations in Queens, serving more than 27,000-weekday customers.

This project included the upgrade and expansion of the below-grade, 71st Street Station on the Queens Boulevard Line, to accommodate increased passenger demands. The Scope of Work for this project involved making the station ADA accessible through the provision of three elevators and the consolidation/rehabilitation of employee facilities. These improvements provide greater station accessibility for all New Yorkers.

CSA’s scope of work included all mechanical, HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, and communication portions of the project. Major rehabilitation work at this station involved the renovation of street stairs, renovation/reconfiguration of the mezzanines and control areas, token booths, and renovation of the platforms.
