CSA Group has hired Tom Lewis as Sr. Vice President of Utilities and Federal Markets, inclusive of Water, Energy and Emergency Management.
Tom holds a BS and MS focused on Civil Engineering and Geoenvironmental Engineering from the University of Connecticut, as well as a law degree with a focus on Environmental Law from Rutgers Law School.
He has used his expertise in climate, resilience, and sustainability (CRS), topics on which he is a published author and sought after speaker, to educate and broaden the conversation around climate, the environment, and sustainable infrastructure.
Tom has performed at varying levels of responsibility for several companies. Most recently at Tidal Basin Group, Inc., he was President/COO of national emergency management and public assistance specialty consultant with work across the U.S. and its island territories. He also played pivotal roles at WSP, Louis Berger, Dewberry/Goodkind, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation, he was a senior engineer.
As a recognized authority on CRS, Tom will bring his years of experience as a business executive, board member, consultant, and engineer leading, building and advising organizations and programs in emergency management and infrastructure (esp., energy, water/environment, and transportation) to CSA and make our energy and water groups even stronger and increase our profile and reputation in the industry.
CSA’s new Sr. Vice President’s career highlights include joining the Louis Berger Group as a senior engineer in its headquarters in NJ in the early 1990s when its U.S. operations were the same size as CSA Group is today, and a little over 20 years later worked my way up to become one of its youngest shareholders and key leaders of its ownership transition, a few years after that becoming its president, a corporate board member, co-founder of its inclusion program and philanthropic foundation, and the most senior person to be retained by WSP when it bought Louis Berger. He describes the “capstone” of his time at WSP as being the lead author of a book entitled “Future Ready: Your Organization’s Guide to Rethinking Climate, Resilience and Sustainability,” published by Wiley Publishing in 2023.
When asked why he chose CSA, Tom shared, “I fell in love with Puerto Rico and became more and more positively impressed over time with CSA’s culture, diversity, vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and people.” He stressed that professionally he has been through many of the team-building, organizational growth and strategies that CSA is currently contemplating and or implementing, “so I feel like I can really help CSA in a very meaningful and timely way as I enter the final stages of my professional career.”
