Salvatore (Sal) R. Prestano joined CSA as the new North America-Energy Unit Vice President. Globally, companies push the boundaries surrounding the multiple forms of energy sources, energy production, and energy delivery. Sal Prestano’s impressive track record in the energy sector positions CSA to lead in the expansion of smart, safe energy production and environmentally sustainable methodologies.
A master-credentialed mechanical engineer with decades of experience, Prestano has held various roles with increasing levels of responsibility at several distinguished companies in the engineering industry. As a firm noted for assembling talent that brings both ingenuity and extensive institutional knowledge, CSA contemplates the complicated future of energy production in its many forms. We believe that Sal will effectively guide our efforts in efficiently designing and maintaining a resilient energy infrastructure.
In addition to solidifying CSA’s position as a leader in energy infrastructure delivery, our North America Energy group is already beginning to thrive under Sal’s leadership. He shared, “Throughout my career, I’ve tried to empower those I’ve supervised to develop their skills and grow their careers.” Empowering people who work here is foundational to who we are as a company. Sal understands this, and his professional ethos has seamlessly integrated with CSA’s culture.
Before joining CSA, Prestano served as National Strategic Pursuit Leader at Jacobs, where he maintained existing client relationships and established new ones. This is another valuable tool he brings to CSA that will add value to our clients and broaden our appeal to potential clients.
While he is proud of his work at companies like Parsons Brinckerhoff and The Port Authority of NY & NJ, Sal particularly recalls his project management of a company in Tennessee that needed a central utility plant (CUP). “Their production line was heavily dependent on steam and chilled water that they purchased from a neighboring manufacturer who was closing their plant in 18 months. My staff and I assessed…needs and developed a plan to have a new plant built,” he explained. As the project manager, he and his team “developed tender documents to select an energy service company (ESCO) who would build, own, operate and maintain a new CUP that would provide steam and chilled water to the production line.” When Prestano met with the president of the client company to present their proposal, he guaranteed his group could deliver the plant in 18 months. They won the contract. “We solicited proposals from five ESCOs, reviewed and ranked them, conducted interviews, and submitted our recommendations…signed a contract with the ESCO we recommended. We stayed on as the owner’s representative, reviewing the plans and specifications for the new CUP, and within 18 months, the plant was operating.”
Sal Prestano’s addition to CSA North America’s Energy department is an affirmative step in our plan to maintain our position as a leader in supporting client’s delivery of innovative energy solutions. The future of power generation brings many questions facing our clients and our communities, like how to provide safe, dependable power; minimize the impacts of climate change; and create a modern resilient electrical infrastructure. Sal and his wealth of experience will complement CSA’s efforts in this space.
